Public consultation on Biological Durable Wood

During the consultation period, Nordic Ecolabelling gives you the opportunity to comment on our proposal for new criteria for Biological Durable Wood.
Nordic Ecolabelling are revising the requirements for Biological Durable Wood for outdoor use. You are welcome to respond to the proposal no later than November 15, 2024.

Most important issues
- What can be ecolabelled?:
- Possibility of surface treating durable wood with Nordic Swan- or EU Ecolabelled paint.
- Possibility of fire-resistance treating durable wood if carried out using pressure impregnation process.
- Possibility of using a small amount of biocides (120 g/m3 or 300 ppm) in final wood.
- The requirement for test for durability have been stringed – new limits for minimum durability class 1 or 2 according to use classes.
- New absolute limits for use of energy (MJ/m3) in production of durable wood.
- New requirement for minimum guarantee against fungi attack in durable woo
