During the consultation period, Nordic Ecolabelling gives you the opportunity to comment on our proposal for new criteria for Sanitary Products.
Nordic Ecolabelling are revising the requirements for Sanitary Products. You are welcome to respond to the proposal no later than March 10, 2025.

Most important issues
- Energy and emissions requirements regarding pulps/fluff pulps and regenerated cellulose (Chapter 5.6.1-5.6.2).
- Updated chemical requirements for manufacturing of the sanitary product and components including function specific requirements for silicones and colourants (Chapter 5.5).
- The exemption of requirements for specific material types under 1-w% of the sanitary product and additional component (S+A) has been removed This change aims to eliminate, for example, the risk for any component containing PFAS chemicals. We specifically welcome input on whether this change is effective.
- Requirement to promote use of materials with lower environmental impact in both the sanitary product and packaging (O2, O4, O41) including updated requirements for bio-based polymers and recycled plastics (Requirements O2, O31-O32). We specially welcome comments on the use of bio-based and recycled plastics in the product and packaging.
- A new requirement for impurities in the final sanitary product (O42).
- Reusable menstrual cups are included in the Criteria.
