A cleaning service certified with the Nordic Swan Ecolabel meets ambitious environmental requirements and has taken a holistic approach to its environmental work. The cleaning service works in an active and structured way to reduce its consumption and to optimise operations.

A Nordic Swan Ecolabel cleaning service:

  • Strictly regulates both the quantity and type of chemicals, to ensure less impact on health and the environment.
  • Uses a minimum of 90% ecolabelled cleaning products.
  • Minimises environmental impact from transports.
  • Sorts waste to stimulate material recycling.
  • Works to reduce their consumption of plastic bags.
  • Has staff trained in environmentally friendly cleaning methods.
  • Has a quality system to ensure high quality cleaning.
  • Complies with wages and terms of employment in line with the collective agreements.

A Nordic Swan Ecolabel cleaning service delivers high-quality cleaning with reduced environmental impact. A clean outcome is achieved by using carefully selected cleaning agents in just the right amounts, while avoiding hazardous chemicals. This contributes both to reducing environmental impact and to a good indoor environment. Additionally, a Nordic Swan Ecolabel cleaning service reduces its climate impact from transport by shifting to more energy-efficient vehicles and moving away from fossil fuels.

  • The criteria document for cleaning services is an overall document for the commodity groups:
     

    • Cleaning service
    • Window cleaning
       

    Fees are charged per commodity group according to the price list below, with the exception of application / renewal fees when an application is made for both commodity groups at the same time.
     

    Valid from 1 January 2025 Amount excluding VAT

    Application fee

    Application for a new licence 3 348 EUR.
    Application for a renewed licence when the requirements have been tightened 1 673 EUR.

    Annual licence fee

    The licence fee for the Nordic Swan Ecolabelled service is based on its turnover The fee is 0.15% of the service's turnover up to 6,901 million EUR. 
    The fee is 0.05% of the service's turnover for the amount exceeding 6,901 million EUR.
    Minimum fee 2 232 EUR per year.
    Maximum fee 64 890 EUR per year.

    Fee for extension / change of licence

    Fixed fee that is charged depending on how long the work takes.

    Up to 4 hours 418 EUR.
    4–8 hours 836 EUR.
    8 or more hours 1 673 EUR.

    Fee for on-site inspections

    One on-site inspection is included when applying for a new or renewed licence.

    Additional on-site inspections are 557 EUR per visit.

    Ecolabelling Sweden AB has no financial profit purpose and is financed through the fees above along with an annual government grant. The company is however liable for VAT according to article 56 of the European Council Directive 2006/112/EC.

    Invoicing is made in SEK with the exchange rate from the first banking day of the year.

    The licence fee for the Nordic Swan Ecolabelled service is based on its turnover The fee is 0.15% of the service's turnover up to 6,7 million EUR. 
    The fee is 0.05% of the service's turnover for the amount exceeding 6,7 million EUR.
    Minimum fee 2 167 EUR per year.
    Maximum fee 63 000 EUR per year.

    Fee for extension / change of licence

    Fixed fee that is charged depending on how long the work takes.

    Up to 4 hours 406 EUR.
    4–8 hours 812 EUR.
    8 or more hours 1 625 EUR.

    Fee for on-site inspections

    One on-site inspection is included when applying for a new or renewed licence.

    Additional on-site inspections are 541 EUR per visit.

  • 4.0: New criteria generation

    New criteria for Nordic Swan Ecolabelled Cleaning Services were decided on November 18, 2024. The new version, 4.0, is valid until December 31, 2029.

    3.5 ⇛ 3.6: Adjustment and prolongation of the  the criteria

    An adjustment is made in requirement O7 regarding ozone water and the validity of the criteria is prolonged to the 31 December 2025. The background text in req. O8 is also updated (regarding ECA water and ozone water).

    3.4 ⇛ 3.5: Prolongation of the validity of the criteria

    Nordic Ecolabelling has decided to prolong the validity of the criteria by 6 months. The new version is called 3.5 and is valid until 30 Juni 2025.

    3.3 ⇛ 3.4: Prolongation of the validity of the criteria

    Nordic Ecolabelling has decided to prolong the validity of the criteria by 12 months. The new version, 3.4, is valid until 31 December 2024.

    3.2 ⇛ 3.3: Prolongation of the validity of the criteria

    Nordic Ecolabelling has decided to prolong the validity of the criteria by 6 months. The new version, 3.3, is valid until 31 December 2023.

    3.1 ⇛ 3.2: Adjustment and prolongation of the validity of the criteria

    Adjustment of requirement O7 Exceptions for detergents with hydrogen peroxide has been made. In addition, the period of validity of the criteria has been prolonged with 18 months. The new version 3.2 is valid until 30 June 2023.

    3.0 ⇛ 3.1: Adjustment of criteria

    Adjustments of requirement P7, on cloths and mops, has been adopted on May 24th 2017. Corrections of Appedices 1, 4 and 6 have also been made. The new version, 3.1, is valid until December 31th 2021.
