Transport wash installations 074

Nordic Swan Ecolabel wash installations for vehicles have reduced environmental impact by meeting requirements to water consumption, effluents, measures to reduce energy consumption, chemical products used in the wash installation, handling of sludge and more.

The requirements include:

  • Limits for water consumption per wash.
  • Measures to reduce energy consumption.
  • Test and limits for effluents of oil, lead, chromium, nickel, cadmium, copper, zinc, antimony and the phthalate DEHP.
  • Use of 100 % chemical products certified with the Nordic Swan Ecolabel for cleaning the vehicles and the wash installation.
  • Procedures for operation and maintenance of the wash installation.
  • Annual follow-up of effluents and water consumption.

The product group includes wash installations for cars, buses, trucks, trains, other rail transport and airplanes.

    4.0: New criteria generation

    Version 4 of Nordic Ecolabelling's criteria for vehicle wash installations has been published. The criteria are valid until 1 April 2029.

    3.6 ⇛ 3.7: Prolongation of the validity of the criteria

    The validity of the criteria has been prolonged by 6 months. The new version is called 3.7 and is valid to 30 June 2025.

    3.5 ⇛ 3.6: Prolongation of the validity of the criteria

    The validity of the criteria has been prolonged by 12 months. The new version is called 3.6 and is valid to 31 December 2024.

    3.4 ⇛ 3.5: Adjustment of the criteria

    Requirement O16 has been adjusted: wash installations with closed-loop wastewater systems are now exempt from the requirement for anaerobic degradability. The new version is called 3.5. and is valid to 31 December 2023.

    3.3 ⇛ 3.4: Prolongation of the validity of the criteria

    The validity of the criteria has been prolonged by 18 months. The new version, 3.4, is valid to 31 December 2023.

    3.2 ⇛ 3.3: Prolongation of the validity of the criteria

    The validity of the criteria has been prolonged by 6 months. The new version, 3.3, is valid to 30 June 2022.

    3.1 ⇛ 3.2: Extension and prolongation of the validity of the criteria

    The criteria have been extended with wash installations for trains and other rail transport, thereby changing the name of the product group to Transport wash installations. Furthermore, the validity of the criteria has been prolonged by 12 months. The new version, 3.2, is valid to 31 October 2021.

    3.0 ⇛ 3.1: Prolongation of the validity of the criteria

    On 14 December 2017 it was decided to prolong the validity of the criteria until 31 December 2020. The name of the new version is 3.1.

    3.0: New criteria generation

    Version 3 of Nordic Ecolabelling's criteria for vehicle wash installations has been published. The criteria are valid until 31 October 2018.
